By combining best classroom teaching practices with the versatility of Moodle, Yukon teachers are loosening the shackles imposed by traditional methods and are opening the way towards student self-direction, the personalization of learning, and truly effective teaching.

'Blended Learning', a rapidly developing pedagogy in K-12 education internationally, is taking shape in a growing number of Yukon schools in support of a new approach to curriculum, with Moodle as a central platform.

We'll share our experiences of school-focussed, Moodle-based Blended Learning implementation, and discuss the planning required and the pitfalls to be anticipated along the way.

Participants will gain some useful strategies and tips for the successful implementation of a K-12 Moodle-based Blended Learning project. We will share our planning tools and some personal stories of success and challenge from our journey so far.

Rollie Comeau is an experienced teacher who has radically shifted and reinvigorated his classroom practice since he and his colleagues at Watson Lake Secondary School began using Moodle to implement Blended Learning throughout the core subjects at the grade 10-12 level.

Chris Stacey is a Technology Assisted Learning Consultant at Yukon Education, whose principal role is to support the implementation and growth of Blended Learning projects throughout Yukon K-12 schools. He is also Site Administrator for Yukon Moodle.
